Mistakes Made When Marketing a Medical Practice

The Internet is a great place for medical practice marketing. There are many avenues available to promote your website and medical practice. Yet just as there are many different channels available for medical Internet marketing, there are many ways to make mistakes. Below, you will see some of the common errors made by individuals and Internet marketing consultants.

Using a Blog

No, using a blog isn’t really a mistake, but not using it correctly is. Blogs are great ways to market a medical practice because you have the ability to create a lot of content, but blogs are supposed to be a way for your visitors to read your content and become engaged in the conversation through comments. Too many companies turn off the ability to comment on a blog to protect themselves against bad comments. In actuality this just turns the blog into a regular static website.

Using Recycled Content

There are many different free article services out there that let you pull content to be used on your website. This is never a good idea because while it helps the author of the article get back links, it hurts your SEO. Search engines hate duplicate content and visitors hate if you put cheesy content on your website. It’s best if you leave free content out of your medical marketing strategy.

Overcrowding

Don’t stuff your web pages full of stuff. A web page should have your navigation element, the content for the page, and some images related to the content. Maybe a few links to other related content. Unfortunately, website themes and blog themes have trended towards multiple columns where people can include widgets and other things that just clutter up your web page. Keep it clean and simple.
